About Us

Listening to Grief provides an empathetic and understanding place to process the grief that follows the death of a dearly loved one. In my training and professional life as a folklorist, I learned to uncover what’s behind the narrative we tell ourselves and others. Story is the foundation to all of the work I’ve done as a folklorist; story is also the foundation for remembering and honoring our loved ones so we can move into and through grief.

I use empathy, my training as a folklorist and as a certified grief educator, and my past experiences with loss to witness the grief and pain of others by practicing deep and healing listening.

During a grief coaching session, I will ask you questions about your loved one. I want to know who they were and what they meant to you. I will give you the space, time, and my full attention to simply talk about your grief, your love, and your memories.

My personal experience is with sibling loss, loss to suicide, and parental loss. I am interested in all stories, but many people want to talk to someone who “gets it.” If you have lost someone to suicide, or are grieving a sibling or parents, I am ready to walk beside you.

Listening to Grief also hosts and collaborates on events designed to bring together community to celebrate and remember our loved ones, or to process the collective grief from living in a traumatic world.
